Howard Bloom, a Recent Visiting Scholar in the Graduate Psychology Department of NYU, a Core Faculty Member at The Graduate Institute, and author of two books, The Lucifer Principle: A Scientific Expedition Into the Forces of History ("mesmerizing"—The Washington Post)and Global Brain: The Evolution of Mass Mind From The Big Bang to the 21st Century ("reassuring and sobering"—The New Yorker), will co-present an audacious paper at the international Quantum Informatics 2005 conference in Moscow on October 5, 2005. Called “Conversation (dialog) model of quantum transitions”, Bloom collaborated on the paper with Pavel Kurakin and George Malinetsky of the Keldysh Institute of Applied Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Bloom, Malinetsky, and Kurakin have used Dr. Kurakin’s theory of “inner time” to propose that there may be common elements in the way that bees handle decision-making and the way that quantum particles “make up their minds”.

Bloom first got into theoretical physics at the age of ten, then, in his 20s, laid the foundations for a new field, mass behavior. Bloom searched for common patterns of social interaction at all levels of evolution, from the precipitation of quarks in the first flick of the Big Bang to the mass moodswings of humans that make stock markets twitch and history itch.

To explore mass behavior, Bloom did 20 years of fieldwork at the core of popular culture, where he worked with film companies like Paramount, Warner Brothers, Disney, and New Line Cinema and helped guide the careers of figures like Michael Jackson, Prince, Bob Marley, Bette Midler, John Mellencamp, Billy Joel, Billy Idol, Paul Simon, David Byrne, Queen, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Kiss, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, and Run DMC.

Says Bloom's collaborator on “Conversation (dialog) model of quantum transitions”, Pavel Kurakin, "Howard Bloom has created a new Scientific Paradigm. He explains in vast and compelling terms why we should forget all we know in complicated modern math and should start from the very beginning."
